Class 4H

Welcome back to the new term!

This term we are finishing our topic on ‘The Saxons’ and studying ‘The Vikings’. We are aiming to take the children on an educational visit to Valence House where they can explore this topic in relation to our local area. More information about this trip will be sent out nearer the time.

In literacy we are covering ‘Imaginary Worlds’. Our class books will be ‘The Iron Man’ and ‘The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe’.Our focus will be on creating imagery.

Grammar will include; plurals and the possessive ‘S’, verbal inflection, pronouns and dialogue punctuation.

For R.E we will be covering ‘Judaism’ and the ‘Gift’. We will be asking the ‘Big Question’ ‘What’s so special about Gifts?’ We hope that the children will enjoy this topic on the run up to Christmas.

Science this term is about ‘Animals including humans’. We will be studying ‘Teeth’ as well as our own digestive system.

Art this term will include an in-depth look at the artist Kandinsky. Please feel free to send in some old clothing for your child to wear (to protect their uniform) as we will be using glue and paint.

I.C.T will include the children having access to various ‘Multimedia’. They will get an opportunity to explore new skills and be creative.

Mathematics will include multiplication (with emphasis on the nine times table) as well as fractions and decimal fractions. We will also be looking at translating 2D shapes, coordinates and mass.

Finally, please don’t forget our trip to the Pantomime on the 13th December. Remember that your child will need a packed lunch and will be eating late that day.

As always, please feel free to see us if you have any questions or problems.

Kind regards,

Miss Stukins and Mrs Hadley (Year 4 Teachers).
