Autumn Term 2017
Hello everyone, let us introduce ourselves, we are:
Anna, Anne, Chelsea, Chinaza, Dean, Emeron, Ibukun, Jayda, Jordan, Joshua, Mary and Nadia and we are the Pupil Chaplaincy Team.
We were commissioned by Father Edward on
8th September and gave our first “Roadshow Assembly” to the whole school on the 15th September.
Each year group will have two Pupil Chaplains allocated to them. We have introduced ourselves to our classes and will keep them up to date with what we are doing.
Dean
Each month we will place around the school a
“Gospel Values” poster. The Gospel Values are what Jesus said, what Jesus did, and what Jesus taught us to do. Each month there will be a different Gospel Value.
Chelsea
Every month we will be handing out to our classes the monthly prayer intention of Pope Francis. Every month has a different cause to pray for. We ask that in your classes during prayer time you remember these intentions.
Nadia
We will be having a prayer group/meeting on the first Friday of every month. Sometimes we will hold it in the Reflection Area in our school, but mostly during the winter months we will go across to St Peter’s Church. Father Edward has kindly agreed to let us use the Lady Chapel.
Mrs Barnes and Miss Freeman will be joining us.
Chinaza
We are starting a Bible Study Group on a Monday morning and are inviting the Year 1s to come along. During these sessions we will be reading Bible stories, watching biblical films and talking about the Old and New Testament.
Mary
On the third Wednesday of every month we will be visiting the Nazareth Room children. We will be reading them stories and teaching them prayers and hymns.
Ibukun
One of our main duties is to set up an Altar for Liturgical Assemblies. Sometimes we have to take part in these assemblies with readings and bidding prayers.
Anna
At the back of the infant hall there is a Chaplaincy Information Table and Chaplaincy Display Board. The Chaplaincy table has a monthly theme. For example, October would be the Rosary and December would be Advent.
Jordan
During the course of the year we will be promoting Justice and Peace. Through raising awareness, prayer and fundraising we will be trying to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
Jayda
During the Friday Assembly we will be reading the Gospel for the Sunday Mass. Hopefully this will help us all to understand the Word of God ahead of the Sunday Mass.
Anne
Our first part of the Autumn term finished on a very busy note for us. We helped Mrs Brooks and Ms McBride with the MacMillan Coffee Morning.
Emeron
We also met the Pupil Chaplaincy Team from St Vincent’s RC Primary. We showed them some of the things we were doing around our school. They are just starting out and we hope that we were of help to them. We wish them lots of luck.
The second half of the Autumn term will be just as busy for us. We are promoting our November Remembrance and then we have Advent and Christmas to look forward to.
We look forward to keeping you updated.
God bless,
The Pupil Chaplaincy Team
